With diverse and extensive experience performing everywhere from the O2 Arena to the world’s leading jazz clubs - and having collaborated and recorded with the likes of Michael Bublé, The Quincy Jones Orchestra, Jeff Goldblum, Bobby McFerrin, and Seal along the way- Emma Smith has built a formidable reputation as a powerful and expressive artist on the global jazz scene. Having just completed a seven-week tour of Europe as guest star singer with the American outfit Postmodern Jukebox, Emma is a jazz vocalist to get acquainted with, if you aren’t already. Tonight, she introduces us to her brand-new album Bitter Orange.
Emma Smith’s many accolades to date include the widespread success of her long-established vocal harmony group The Puppini Sisters, as well as a four-year stint as a broadcaster on BBC Radio 3. She also holds a position as resident singer with the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars. In addition, she has received numerous awards and commendations from organisations and critics alike — including winning the Worshipful Company of Musicians Medal, reaching the finals of the Montreux Jazz Competition, and, more recently, being nominated for the prestigious Parliamentary Jazz Award in the ‘Jazz Vocalist of the Year’ category two years in a row.
