Spanish jazz luminaries, Andreu and Lluc coming for one off UK gig to present their tribute to American titans, Sonny Rollins and Cedar Walton. Expect famous compositions from Sonny and Cedar repertoire as well as discover less know materials from their repertoire.
Both artists are deeply connected to the Barcelona jazz community while maintaining strong ties to New York. Their music is direct and focused, with an emphasis on strong melodies, time, and interaction. The set moves comfortably between structured compositions and open improvisation, leaving space for risk, contrast, and spontaneous development. Will Barry’s Piano adds depth and rhythm to the ensemble, supporting a quartet sound focused on cohesion rather than individual display.
Lluc Casares is a clarinetist, composer, and arranger, and the first musician from the Iberian Peninsula to complete the Artist Diploma at The Juilliard School, where he studied with Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Washington, and Ben Wolfe. A prolific leader and collaborator, he has released five albums as a leader including Big Band Vol. 1 (2025) and has appeared on over 20 recordings. His work has been recognized with awards such as Enderrock’s Best Jazz Album and performances at major festivals and venues worldwide, from Montreux and North Sea Jazz to Jazz at Lincoln Center. A co-director of the Barcelona Art Orchestra and founder of the label The Changes, Casares is also an active educator, teaching at ESMUC and internationally.
